Music fans to experience a variety of carefully curated artists at one of Ohio’s largest two-day, two-stage, multi-genre music festivals
COLUMBUS, OH – May 13, 2021 – Today Prime Social Group announced the much anticipated Breakaway Music Festival, Ohio initial lineup. As one of the largest live and in-person multi-genre music festivals to take place in Ohio in 2021, the festival brings an impressive collection of artists ranging from international EDM artists to Billboard pop music chart-toppers, and is set to take Columbus by storm at the Historic Crew Stadium September 3-4.
After having to take a one year hiatus due to the global pandemic, the festival now in its sixth year continues to “breakaway” from the traditional festival model by meticulously curating a lineup specific to Columbus music fans. The two-day event showcases dozens of acts on two stages, the Main Stage and the Corona Electric Beach Stage, where beats meet the beach with world-renowned DJs.
“We feel like we’ve put together one of the best Breakaway lineups yet for Columbus,” said Zach Ruben, co-founder of Prime Social Group. “After over a year of very little live and in-person music, we are ready and feel Columbus is more than ready for Breakaway.”
Norwegian born musical prodigy, global superstar, and Spotify “Breakout Artist” Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll better known as, Kygo, headlines Friday evening. Since introducing himself in 2013, he has amassed over 15 billion cumulative global audio and video streams and 3.3 billion YouTube views and has and continues to break streaming records. He emerged as Spotify’s “Breakout Artist of 2015” powered by singles “Firestone” [feat. Conrad Sewell] and “Stole the Show” [feat. Parson James]. These hits cemented him as “the fastest artist to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.”
Kygo earned one of his biggest hits with the multiplatinum “It Ain’t Me” [feat. Selena Gomez], going Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and clocking nearly 1 billion Spotify streams. Other collaborations include mega-hits with U2, Imagine Dragons, The Chainsmokers, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, and Chelsea Cutler. In 2019, Kygo unleashed Whitney Houston’s “Higher Love” and generated another 1 billion combined streams and views. In 2020, he released his third full-length album “Golden Hour” with the anthems “Like It Is” [with Zara Larsson & Tyga] and “I’ll Wait” [with Sasha Sloan].
Set to headline Saturday evening is ILLENIUM. The Denver-based producer is one of the most successful crossover electronic artists to date and has elevated dance music with his bold, progressive take on the genre. His expansive sound, which mixes elements of celestial electronic, mellow alternative, rock-fuel dubstep, emotional indie, and pop-tinged bass music, has topped the U.S. charts, garnered more than 4 billion collective streams and solidified the breakout artist as a festival-headlining act. Hailed by Billboard as one of the Top Dance/Electronic Artists, ILLENIUM has captivated millions of self-identified, die-hard “Illenials” around the world who share a direct and personal bond with him through his music. With a string of hits including “Takeaway”, “Good Things Fall Apart”, “Crawl Outta Love”, “In Your Arms” and “Hearts on Fire” fans won’t be disappointed.
