GRAND RAPIDS, MI – May 6, 2021 – Today, MiEntertainment and Prime Social Group announced the much anticipated Breakaway Music Festival, Grand Rapids initial lineup. The impressive collection of artists range from familiar favorites hailing from Michigan to EDM and pop chart-toppers at this live and in-person festival to take place at Belknap Park August 27-28.
After a one year hiatus due to the global pandemic, Breakaway is celebrating its fourth year at Belknap Park by continuing with its tradition of “breaking away” from the typical music festival model by carefully curating a list of artists tailored to Michigan music fans. “We feel like we’ve put together one of the best Breakaway lineups yet for Grand Rapids this year,” said Zach Ruben, co-founder of Prime Social Group. “It fully embodies the Breakaway spirit and spans multiple genres to create what will be a memorable event.”
Set to headline Friday evening is ILLENIUM. The Denver-based producer is one of the most successful crossover electronic artists to date and has elevated dance music with his bold, progressive take on the genre. His expansive sound, which mixes elements of celestial electronic, mellow alternative, rock-fuel dubstep, emotional indie, and pop-tinged bass music, has topped the U.S. charts, garnered more than 4 billion collective streams and solidified the breakout artist as a festival-headlining act. Hailed by Billboard as one of the Top Dance/Electronic Artists, ILLENIUM has captivated millions of self-identified, die-hard “Illenials” around the world who share a direct and personal bond with him through his music. With a string of hits including “Takeaway”, “Good Things Fall Apart”, “Crawl Outta Love”, “In Your Arms” and “Hearts on Fire” fans won’t be disappointed.
Michigander and much beloved singer-songwriter Quinn XCII headlines Saturday night. Named one of Rolling Stone Magazine’s 2020 Breakthrough Artists, Quinn XCII has garnered acclaim for his ability to seamlessly blur the lines between pop, hip-hop, electronic, and soul. He released his debut album in 2017, The “Story of Us”. The album debuted at #6 on the iTunes Pop Chart and led by the standout single “Straightjacket,” which has accumulated more than 100 million streams to date. He released his sophomore album “From Michigan” With Love in early 2019 and kicked off 2020 with the release of his new single “Two 10s.” Quinn XCII will take the stage for the first time in Grand Rapids since the release of his fourth album “Change of Scenery”. The album, produced with childhood friend and fellow Detroiter, Ayokay, quickly rose to the number one pop album in the world on Apple ITunes upon its release, and is described as a 12-track, 34-minute musical journey.
Other artists rounding out the weekend include: Gryffin, Madeon, Chelsea Cutler, Big Wild, Loud Luxury, Alexander 23, and Dion Timmer with more to be announced.
